"COLORADO ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH"

A picture is worth a thousand words or so they say. This rainbow from the front deck in Breckenridge speaks volumes. I shot the photo while Mary and Ines were out hiking. I stayed in to draw, get some quiet time and deal with my error of "bitters" the afternoon before. The colors outside and the quiet up here this time of year is so beautiful. I could almost hear myself NOT think again. I spend much time wandering the woods of New England alone in summer and fall making environmental art. Winters I wander the southern hemisphere and busy streets of Buenos Aires. One balances the other. As extroverted as I am I need introvert time for balance.

Here is a short recap. We got to Ines' friend Mary's house on Saturday afternoon. She has a wonderful place up on a hill overlooking the ski area. Up here the aspens have almost totally shed their yellow leaves but it is still beautiful. Mary took us to the town stopping to show us the library. My brother Ted would love it. I loved it. What a great space. Then we wandered the town and stopped in for a coffee at The Crown. Well, actually we stopped for mojitos and I must say they were the best I have ever tasted. On the way back to the car Mary noticed that the distillery was open for tastings. We stopped in and chatted and laughed with the tender. Mary and Ines are from Wisconsin and so is he. We stumbled out and back to the house for dinner.

Sunday morning we took our time with breakfast. I relaxed by the fireplace while the gals went hiking and visiting.

So this is very short. We need to get some breakfast in us and out of here as Mary has to fly back to Wisconsin and we need to move on to Denver. The shuttle is coming to get her as we don't have enough space in my little car to drive her to the airport. I have put in only one couch request for Boulder keeping with my philosophy of only make requests to kindred spirits. I have plan B which is moving more quickly on to Utah. There the weather is not quite good enough until Thursday to try camping. In Denver we have another friend to stay with for one night. Boulder may have to wait for me to visit until the spring. There are no inexpensive hotels and rain is expected. Oh well.

I just shot this photo of a fox out my bedroom window and a baby mule deer upon our arrival on Saturday. Nice.
